New school year. New teaching context. New lesson plans for you.

As you and your students head back to school this fall, adjusting to the new normal is likely to be a challenge on many levels - and that is before you even get started teaching. To help you teach nutrition we have developed new (free!) cross-curricular lesson plans. Our lessons directly address the healthy eating curriculum and also connect with other subject areas - such as language, math, arts and social studies.

How our lesson plans help you

  • Use our unique CDEF approach to deliver lesson plans that respect nutrition education best practices. What does this mean? In addition to connecting to the Ontario curriculum, our lesson activities take a constructive and inclusive approach to education around food, eating and bodies and help build food literacy and eating skills for your students’ lifelong well-being.

  • The lessons are relevant to students’ lived experiences. They help build students’ food and nutrition knowledge and critical thinking skills. Students are able to apply what they have learned and reflect on how the learnings apply to them.

  • Designed with educator input, these lesson plans meet a variety of teaching needs. Use the activities on an interactive whiteboard or a shared screen for a class/large group activity; print them for small group or individual work; or share a digital copy with your students.
